Genesis:Vira Charitable Society realised the crucial role a community radio can play in rural communities by imparting information and giving a voice to them.

Radio Sandesh Bijnor 89.6 MHz was launched on 18th March, 2023. The CRS focuses on building socially aware and inclusive community through its programmes and its motive is to act as bridge between administration and the community.

The CRS provides the community crucial information related to various areas, and aspires to be a part of their daily lives.

The CRS broadcast its programmes from campus of Kunwar SatyaVira College of Engineering and Management, an institution under the aegis of Vira Charitable Society. Radio Sandesh Bijnor 89.6 MHz has been successful in driving a positive change in community through its programmes.

Thematic Focus: The focus areas of the CRS have been on Agriculture, Health, Government schemes and Career Guidance. We are also working on generating awareness amongst our community on issues like AIDS, Gender Equality, Drug Addiction and Organ Donation etc.

Primetime Programmes: Our primetime programmes are Ek Mulakat, Hamare Kalakar, Hamare Khet Hamare Pashu, Siksha ka Safar, Sehat aur Suwasth. Ek Mulakat is a interview program of people from within the community, Hamare Kalakar showcases artists, singers, poets & folk groups from the community. Hamare Khet Hamare Pashu is a program on local’s crops and animal cultivation, Sehat aur Suwasth is a health program and Siksha ka Safar gives information on education choices to the community. We also organize an annual musical talent show to nurture and motivate local talent.

Innovations in format or any other way: Along with broadcasting, we effectively use narrowcasting. We have collaborated with Organ India to spread awareness on organ donation amongst the community. We also conduct blood donation camps with the help of our parent organization and give blood units to the needy from within our community.

CRMC Members and Core Team: We have a seven member management committee from within the community, giving us regular guidance from their expertise and experience. We are currently a team of 13 radio trainees, all from education background associated with the parent organization. We are equipped with handling all aspects of running a radio station.

Major Projects Undertaken: We have collaborated with Parasher Foundation for weekly program on Organ Donation. The show includes interviews of donees, donors and families of deceased who have donated organs.

Sustainable Strategies: Radio Sandesh Bijnor 89.6 MHz CRS is financially and technically supported by its parent organisation, Vira Charitable Society Bijnor. We have done some government funded programs and also small fund has come from local advertisers. We also generate revenue from our membership, where we wish our members on their birthdays and anniversary.

Number of listeners and Potential Outreach: Radio Sandesh Bijnor 89.6 MHz has an active listener base of nearly 12,000 people and a potential listener base of over two lakh people
