R & D

In addition to academic activities, The Department is involved in Research & Development work. for this purpose R & D lab has been developed in the department where the students can learn the theories and principles used in the construction field and can enhance their skills and knowledge. This lab is setup with the various projects which have their major areas for research where R & D lab required.

Project Lab:
This lab is a center for research, analysis, development of various projects and building of strategic models in the field of research. Students have presented many projects in last year related to various major areas. Some of these projects are mentioned here:
Student Projects
Bio Gas Power Plant
In this project Bio Gas power plant is designed by the students. The various forms of biomass are mixed with an equal quantity of water in the mixing tank. This forms the slurry. It Produces a clean fuel - helps in controlling air pollution and Provides nutrient rich (N & P) manure for human life.

Wind Resistant Building
In this project, a wind-resistant building design protects a structure and its occupants from strong winds and flying debris. This kind of design of building is essential for protecting a building and its occupants from disastrous outcomes during strong wind events. Critical to wind-resistant building design is a continuous load path with strong roofs, walls, floors, and foundations, and impact resistance.

Waste Water Treatment Plant
This project is developed generally in the field of Environmental engineering known as "sewage treatment plant" (or "sewage treatment works" in some countries) is now a days often replaced with the term waste water treatment plant.

In this project Student showed that Sewage can be treated close to where the sewage is created, which may be called a "decentralized" system or even an "on-site" system (in septic tank, biofilters or aerobic treatment systems) Alternatively, sewage can be collected and transported by a network of pipes and pump stations to a municipal treatment plant.

Rotating Bridge
The concept of this project is related to advancement in Highway Engineering. In this project student have developed a Rotating (swing) bridge which deals with the platforms of Indian Highway, identifying opportunities for facilities re-design for improved crowd management on the bridge, passenger movement, a ease and comfort.

Eco– Friendly Cricket Stadium
The design of Eco- friendly cricket stadium basically consisting the methods of the Rain water harvesting and solar system for electricity. Both the system make the stadium environmental friendly. The design of the stadium is very simple as the stadium, so there is no high construction cost of the project.

Green Building
A 'green' building is a building that, in its design, construction or operation, reduces or eliminates negative impacts, and can create positive impacts, on our climate and natural environment. Green buildings preserve precious natural resources and improve our quality of life. There are a number of features which can make a building 'green'. These include:

• Efficient use of energy, water and other resources.
• Use of renewable energy, such as solar energy
• Pollution and waste reduction measures, and the enabling of re-use and recycling
• Good indoor environmental air quality
• Use of materials that are non-toxic, ethical and sustainable
• Consideration of the environment in design, construction and operation
• Consideration of the quality of life of occupants in design, construction and operation
• A design that enables adaptation to a changing environment.

Waste Water Treatment Plant
The composition of municipal waste water varies from place to place. Sometimes industrial wastes also mix with sewage. The type of treatment of waste water thus depends upon its characteristics and the desired quality of water after treatment.

The purpose of waste water treatment is to remove/reduce organic and inorganic substances, nutrients toxic substances kill pathogenic organisms etc. so that the quality of discharged water is improved to meet the permissible level of water to be discharged in some water body, on land or agricultural field.

Treatment of water thus aims at reduction of BOD, COD etc. of receiving water bodies and prevention of bio-magnification of toxic substances in food chain and prevention of disease due to pathogenic organisms present in the waste water.
